What is Regenerative Wellness?

Bay Colony Chiropract - Regenerative Wellness

Greetings to all once again from your friends at Bay Colony Chiropractic serving all of Galveston County, Texas and the surrounding area.  We produce podcasts and blogs as a public service to educate the general public about how and why Americans increasingly include chiropractic care in their pain management plan.  We educate the public on the fact that the American medical community increasingly refer their patients out to chiropractors as an increasingly effective alternative to invasive surgeries and opioid-based pain management.

We invite you to listen and read along with Dr. Sanders as today she discusses the topic of “Regenerative Wellness”.

Narrator:  Welcome to the “Regenerative Wellness Podcast with Dr. Sanders”.  I’m Darren Kincaid along with Dr. Donna Sanders from Bay Colony Chiropractic here in Dickinson, Texas.  Dr. Sanders has been practicing chiropractic care for over 30 years staying on the forefront of the most comprehensive and advanced chiropractic care techniques today. This podcast is dedicated to educating the people of Galveston county and the surrounding area on how to live younger, stronger, and better lives. The topic of today’s podcast is: “What is Regenerative Wellness”?

OK, Dr. Sanders, in our first two episodes we’ve gotten into the basics of what stem cells are. We now know that stem cells are kind of like the body’s medics who go around with their own medicine bags to repair cells and cell tissue that is broken. We also learned what stem cell therapy is and why we need it. Now, to further our exploration of this topic, why don’t we cover what regenerative wellness is.

Dr. Sanders:  OK, as a Chiropractor, I educate my patients that the body was made to be a self-healing and self-regulating machine.  It heals itself via cellular regeneration. We’ve all heard that we have all new cells every seven years. For example, the skin, it has all new cells every few weeks. Digestion, it replaces its lining every six to seven days. Your hair and nails, they are constantly growing new cells. They do this through cellular rejuvenation.

Now age and stress is how we mess this all up.  There are different kinds of stress. We have chemicals stress, mental stress, and physical stress associated with age and injuries.  They all cause cellular degeneration. Actually, the root of all your diseases, illness, and aging is due to degeneration. Regenerative wellness focuses on removing obstacles of regeneration and restoring optimal regeneration abilities. And that is where stem cell therapy comes in. Stem cells regenerate new tissue and acts as you body’s own repair system.

Narrator: Very interesting Dr. Sanders.  When you’re a kid, you seem to bounce back faster from injuries, but as you get older you seem to limp around a little longer than you used to, right?

Dr. Sanders:  Yes, that’s the truth.  Kids have a lot more stem cells. For example, when you are born, one out of ten thousand of your cells is a stem cell because your growing all your body parts with your stem cells. As a teenager, it’s one out of one hundred thousand cells are a stem cell. By the time you're are fifty, it is one out of four hundred thousand.  So, for example, if me and my eighteen-year-old were in an accident tomorrow, she’s definitely going to recover much quicker than I will and probably have less injuries because her stem cells are going to be “Johnny on the spot” repairing those cell tissues that were damaged by the accident. Whereas mine, it’s going to take a lot longer and I’ll have limited ability to regenerate those cells which means that I’m going to have more scar tissue. That’s why those kids bounce back when they are literally bouncing all over the place. So it just increases the body’s ability to recover more thoroughly and quicker using stem cells which is the natural way the body does it to begin with.

Narrator: All right then, Dr. Sanders. Thank you for explaining what regenerative wellness is. This is so fascinating. I can’t wait for the next episode.
